Clowns, jugglers, magicians and DJs cake decorations supplier are just some of the acts available to hire.For eldest son Brooklyn’s fifth birthday, the Beckhams spent 10,000, which included a gigantic marquee on the lawn of their Hertfordshire home, a disco, magic show and entertainers.And his sixth birthday party, held at the family villa in Madrid, was said to feature a Spanish clown, juggler and fire eater.Now enterprising individuals have cottoned on to the trend and party organiser companies have sprung up to cater for the growing demand.Sarah Rose, aged 37 and her husband, 31 year old Nick, run their craft based party planning company, Small Important People, from their home in Keresley End, Coventry.They juggle their full time jobs Sarah works for a pharmacy company and Nick is in IT with the party events for four to eight year olds at the weekend.Since setting up three years ago they have travelled across the Midlands holding parties for hundreds of children.The couple, who have no children of their own (« we don’t have time » quipped Sarah) can organise decorations, balloons and party bags, as well as arranging two hours of hands on craft making.The only thing they don’t do is the food although they do provide items like cups, plates and serviettes.Sarah, who ran parties for family and friends before launching the business, said bookings were buoyant as parents opted for something a little more special than butterfly cakes at the tea table.And the revelation that 200 was the average spend did not surprise her. »We do parties most weekends now, it has become very busy for us. »Sometimes it’s just a small group, other times there can be the whole class invited but the average for us is about 20 children. »What the parents spend depends on how many children are invited but normally the spend is edging towards 200. »Sarah and Nick offer a basic package but can also provide parties where everything is linked to a theme the popular ones being superheroes and princess complete with huge inflatable comic book characters.It allows parents and children to let their imaginations run riot with fancy dress costumes.One of the most extravagant celebrations Sarah and Nick have been involved with was a party in Shropshire.
